Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a well-known component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) developed thousands years ago by ancient Chinese. It is based on Qi, the energy that circulates throughout the body along interconnected channels called meridians. Qi affects all essential life activities, including the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical aspects of life. Qi is comprised of two opposite forces, yin and yang, which must be balanced.

A person’s health is influenced by the flow of Qi. When this flow is disrupted, yin and yang become unbalanced, and illness occurs. Acupuncture works by inserting fine sterilized needles into specific points on the body to stimulate meridians, which influences the flow of the Qi, eliminates the disruptions, and restores mental and physical well-being.

Herbal Remedies

Herbal remedies are another important component of TCM used to treat many disorders.Chinese herbs are derived from various parts of different plant, animal, or mineral sources. Leaves, flowers, barks, stems, seeds, peels, and roots are commonly used.

* Bian Stone: infrared heat applied to the body with precious stones
* Moxibustion: applying heat to points via burning herbs
* Tuina: Chinese massage and acupressure
* Qi Gong: exercises in dynamic or static forms focus on balancing and strengthening the body’s energy
